题目:Operating Challenges for High Penetration Renewable Scenarios

报告人概况:Mr. Smith is a member of the IEEE Power and Energy Society; a member of CIGRE, the International Council on Large Electric Systems; a member of the American Meteorological Society; a US representative to the IEA Wind Annex Task 25 on Design and Operation of Power Systems with Large Amounts of Wind Power, and a Fellow of the IEEE.
He is a guest editor for the IEEE Power and Energy magazine, and a past editor for the IEEE Transactions on Sustainable Energy. Mr. Smith received the IEEE PES Ramakumar Family Renewable Energy Excellence Award in 2014.
He received his BSME and MS degrees from MIT in 1970. He currently serves as the Executive Director of the Energy Systems Integration Group (ESIG). Previously, he served as President of Electrotek Concepts, a power engineering consulting firm. He has over 45 years of experience in the electric power industry.

报告题目:Advances in Transient Stability for Stochastic Uncertainties

摘要:With the increasing penetration of renewable energy systems such as plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, wind and solar power into the power grid, the stochastic disturbances resulting from changes in operational scenarios, uncertainties in schedules, new demands and other mitigating factors become crucial in power system stability studies. This presentation presents a new method for analyzing stochastic transient stability using the structure-preserving transient energy function. A method to integrate the transient energy function and recloser probability distribution functions is presented to provide a quantitative measure of probability of stability.

报告人概况
:Mariesa L. Crow is the Fred Finley Distinguished Professor of Electrical Engineering at Missouri S&T. She received her BSE in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan and her Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois-Urbana/Champaign. She joined Missouri University of Science & Technology in 1991. Her area of professional interest is computational methods and power electronics applications to renewable energy systems, microgrids, and energy storage. She has been PI or Co-PI on $22 million in externally funded research and has authored over 250 technical articles and several textbooks and book chapters. She has served as the Director of the Missouri S&T Energy Research and Development Center and as the VP for Research at Missouri S&T through 2018. She received the University of Missouri President’s Award for Leadership in 2014. In her 30 year academic career, she has taught a variety of courses in power systems engineering at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and has received numerous teaching awards, including the IEEE Outstanding Power Engineering Educator Award. She is the author of Computational Methods for Electric Power Systems, published by CRC Press/Wiley which is in its third edition. She is currently serving as the IEEE Power & Energy Society VP of Publications. She is a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Missouri and a Fellow of the IEEE.
